Electrical Power Supply with Integration of Renewable Energy (E5)

Welcome to the E5 Institute! We conduct research in the field of mathematical description of energy supply networks. Our research mainly focuses on the stability of electrical power systems with an increasing amount of converter based generation as well as the operation management and control of hybrid AC/DC networks. Besides, we deal with the planing and optimization of distribution networks, taking into account energy-optimized districts.

The achievement of climate objectives implies a new paradigm for the electrical power grid. Besides the integration of volatile renewable power into the distribution and transmission grid, the previously independent energy sectors (heat, mobility, gas) must be coupled with the electrical power grid. Study

Teaching at the E5 Institute includes fundamental courses in the Bachelor's and Master's pogram as well as seminars, internships and theses. Our focus is developing a comprehensive understanding of the system by means of teaching basic technical knowledge and early practical relevance.
